Lamp A 77-year-old woman has been taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in aserious condition with multiple fractures and a man, aged in his80s, suffered serious head, leg and chest injuries, according to anAmbulance Victoria spokesman.
The male was taken to Austin Hospital in a critical condition afterbeing treated at the scene.
Bell Street is closed in both directions between Edwin Street andBanksia Street.
Eastbound traffic along Bell Street is being diverted south alongWaterdale Road and then east along Banksia Street to Studley Roadand back on to Bell Street.
Westbound traffic is being diverted into Studley Road and westalong Banksia Street, into Waterdale Road and back on to BellStreet.
A police spokeswoman said the diversion were likely to remain untilabout 7pm in the traffic-heavy area.
